Privacy Policy

StockSaathi (“we”, “us”) is an educational paper-trading simulator operated as a personal / student project at no charge to users. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and the DPDP Rules, 2025.

1. Who is the data fiduciary

StockSaathi is the data fiduciary for the information you provide while using this service. The service is hosted on Vercel Inc. (United States) and backed by Supabase Inc. (United States). Those companies act as data processors on our behalf.

2. What personal data we collect

Account data: email address, display name, chosen handle, password (stored hashed), date of account creation.

Profile data you provide: optional avatar, bio, age band, school name (if you add it), interests.

Simulation data: virtual trades, virtual portfolio holdings, virtual cash balance, virtual watchlist, virtual transfers between users. None of this reflects real securities, real money, or a real brokerage account.

Coach interaction data: messages you send to the AI coach, responses the coach returns, behavioural signals (e.g. panic-sell detection, FOMO scoring) we compute from your simulated trades. These are shown back to you as reflection prompts; they are not sold or shared externally.

In-app activity data: which pages you open, which stocks you view and how often, which news headlines you click, chart ranges you switch between, searches you run inside the app, and when you open the coach. We record this so the coach can give feedback grounded in what you actually did — for example noticing that you looked at a stock many times before buying it. This is activity inside StockSaathi only. This activity data stays in our own database, readable only by you and by us, and is not passed to advertisers.

Page-view analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies and does not track you across other websites. We also use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure how visitors use the site (pages viewed, time on page, device and approximate location). See how Google uses information from sites that use its services; you can block it with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Technical data: IP address (seen by our hosting provider), user agent, referral URL, session timestamps.

Advertising: StockSaathi shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners, as third-party vendors, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to StockSaathi and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Your account, trade and coach data is not shared with Google for advertising.

We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, given when you tick the acknowledgement at signup and each time you use features (coach, friends) that clearly require that data. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account).

5. Retention

Account + simulation data: retained while your account is active, deleted within 30 days of you deleting the account. Coach chat history: can be cleared at any time from Settings. In-app activity data is kept for as long as your account exists and is not automatically deleted on a schedule; it is erased with the rest of your data within 30 days of you deleting your account. Backups may retain data for up to a further 90 days before being fully purged.

6. Third parties we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We do not give your account, trade or coach data to advertisers or data brokers.

7. Cross-border data transfer

Because our hosting and LLM providers are based in the United States, your data is transferred out of India for processing. By using StockSaathi you consent to this transfer. The Government of India may notify restricted jurisdictions under Section 16 of the DPDP Act; we will comply with any such restriction as it applies.

8. Teen users

StockSaathi is an educational tool designed to be usable by teenagers learning about markets. Any user can delete their account and all associated data from Settings, or ask the grievance officer below to erase it.

StockSaathi does not use your account, trade or coach data for advertising. The behavioural coach operates on the user’s own simulated trades and their own activity inside this app — and nothing else — and exists solely to return educational reflection to that same user. It is never used to build a profile for anyone else, and it is never shared with advertisers or data brokers.

A summary of that data — your portfolio figures, recent trades, and a short summary of your recent in-app activity — is included in the request sent to our AI provider (Google, via Vertex AI) so the coach can answer questions about your own account. Under Vertex AI’s enterprise terms Google does not use that content to train its models.
